My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Pretty absorbing & sad.
Doggett isn't a bad writer, but repeats the same overblown phrases too many times to ignore. It would have been a better book with tighter editing.
Also, it really seems like Doggett holds McCartney in higher esteem than the other Beatles, and he slants the story (so far -- about 1/4 through) in his favor.
In the last quarter of the book, Ringo finally gets a few pages!

This is actually a really good read. Being famous is hard. Being tied to your teenage best friends forever is hard. Becoming wealthy and famous when you have little sense of finance or law is treacherous. Reading this will leave you more content with your obscurity and meager means. And, your marriage! ;)
