My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Having read most of Burroughs' other books, as well as his brother's memoir, I had to pick this one up. Where Running with scissors was mostly about his mother's insanity and his abuse at the hands of her psychiatrist, this one is about his terrifying father and how much he wanted love and recognition from him. This is a very quick read. And it provides no real answers. In real life, one has to make do and move on, without satisfying resolution or getting what one needs. Painful.
